News ItemCONGRATULATIONS TO DR TIM KURZ ON SECURING FUNDING FROM THE WESTERN AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT TO ESTABLISH A NEW CENTRE OF RESEARCH EXCELLENCE FOR CLIMATE CHANGE AND FOREST AND WOODLAND HEALTH.Dr Tim Kurz from the School of Psychology is one of a group of researchers at Murdoch University involved in a recent successful application to the Western Australian State Government for funding to set up a new Centre of Research Excellence for Climate Change and Forest and Woodland Health. The centre, which is based at Murdoch, will involve a large number of different projects involving researchers from a range of disciplines (both at Murdoch and other institutions) including environmental science, education, psychology and anthropology. In the face of climate change, the centre’s vision is to be a world leader in tree, woodland and forest health science, community engagement in adaptive management, education and communication. The particular component of the centre’s research program that Tim is involved with is concerned with the community engagement and environmental education processes that are required to ensure that research findings from the Centre’s other research programs can be transformed into successful restoration outcomes ‘on the ground’.
