News ItemIn July 2005 Dr. Laurence Hartley and Ms. Melanie Freeman were given a grant from PATREC (Planning and Transport Research Centre), a research centre partnered by 4 universities in Izumi participated in PATREC's 1st annual Research Forum at Curtin's Graduate School of Business on 3 October 2005, where she presented her paper “Preliminary investigation of benchmarking the safety culture of the Australian rail industry”. She became the proud Winner of the Inaugural C.Y. O'Connor Prize for 2005, awarded for the best presentation, honouring an important figure in the history of Australian transport infrastructure development, Charles Yelverton O’Connor (1843-1902). An impressive feat at a multi-disciplinary research forum. We are very pleased with how the project is going and Izumi's dedication and representation of the School and Murdoch.
