Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling(GradDipCounsel) Course Code - P1054The Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling supports students in developing professional competence and personal readiness for a career in counselling. The course is committed to experiential learning, with an emphasis on the counselling relationships, the key feature of effective counselling practice. The critical appraisal of counselling literature combined with a practicum in our Counsellor Training Centre provides students with the opportunity to develop their counselling practice. Students wishing to cpmplete their training at this level can elect to do two specified additional units to meet the accreditation standards of the Psychotherapists and Counsellor's Federation of Australia (PACFA). Qualification: Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling (PgDipCounsel) Restriction: All postgraduate courses are subject to restriction. Location: Murdoch Campus - Internal and some units are conducted at Caladenia House. Duration: 1 year full-time or part-time equivalent Employment prospect: Employment growth for counsellors to 2010-11 is expected to be strong. Employment in this large occupation (17,300 in February) rose moderately in the past five years, and rose strongly in the long term (ten years); the vacancy level for counsellors is moderate. Admissions requirements:Recognised Bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent training in any discipline. The admission process includes both application and interview.
