The Work and Organisational Psychology (WOP) research group conducts research and consultancies in a wide range of industrial and work related areas. The aims of the group are to:
- Make a difference to organizations by conducting quality research that provides practical value to organizations, teams and individuals;
- Utilize our research strength by developing robust and theoretically sound consulting solutions for clients;
- To encourage research and practice in organizational and work psychology; and
- Provide a forum for staff and student interaction to develop research and consulting excellence.
- Conduct formative research on contemporary work and work practices.
The research activities of WOPS covers the range from micro laboratory studies of factors affecting performance to macro work policy research and development.
Current activities include studies of shift work rostering practices and safety performance in railroad and hospital settings; the impact of fly-in fly-out operations and other extended work hour formats on domestic and community development; leadership and organizational development training; enhancement of safety culture in organizations; neuropsychological performance and family cohesion in workers affected by solvents; assessing safety attitudes and beliefs; corporate social responsibility; work attitudes and values, vocational development, well being at work, occupational health and safety.
The group currently provides consultancy services concerning work and organizational performance to many organizations including: King Edward Memorial Hospital; WA Police Service; many legal practices; Conservation and Land Management; Mining and Resource Contractors Training Association; Road Safety Council and Office of Road Safety; Department of Consumer and Employment Protection; Department of Premier and Cabinet; Department of Justice; Australian Defence Force Cadets; Perth Zoo; Woodside Energy; Water Corporation, Vicroads, ARRB Transport Research, National Transport Commission, Department of Treasury and Finance.
The group also provides confidential consultancy advice to many other organizations. |
